Once, there was a girl

who wandered through the shadows

 

She was looking for the light

Chasing stars that felt too bright

Her glow felt out of sight

 

She was wandering through the grey

Through the haze of yesterday

Could she ever hold the light?

 

I saw every other glow

Thought the sun was far above

But I never stopped to find my own

 

And at last, I caught the light

in the face that shone back at me

and the mirror whispered back

— you are the light

 

Now I see it’s in my name

Every ray was mine to claim

All the gold was in my name

Every heart that leaned upon

Now I know I’m the sun

 

I was golden from the start

Didn’t need to chase a spark

Still bloom in any sky

Just a “Hi” and love will grow

I don’t try to be the sun
